Hydrocarbon (fossil fuel) these are organic chemical compounds formed by carbon and hydrogen atoms. Fossil Fuels may be present in a solid (asphalt), liquid (crude oil) or gaseous form (gas).
Natural Gas is a mixture of light fossil fuels that remain gaseous at normal temperature and atmospheric pressure. It is odourless and colourless, is not toxic and is lighter than air. Natural gas is a fossil fuel considered suitable as a source of clean energy for industry and motor vehicles in substitution of more polluting fuels such as combustible oils, wood or coal.
Condensate these are low pressure fossil fuels obtained in the field from natural gas through a process of condensation or extraction. This refers exclusively to those fossil fuels that are liquid at the surface under normal temperature and pressure conditions.
The source of natural gas is extracted from subsoil’s composed of porous, permeable rock that is covered by a layer of impermeable strata preventing its escape to the surface. Natural gas may, or may not, be associated with other compounds. The gas produced at the Pande and Temane fields is non-associated gas.
The applications of natural gas is widely used in industry, commerce, domestically, in motor vehicles or in the generation of electrical power. In industry, the gas is used as fuel to generate heat and, as a raw material, in the petrochemical and fertilizer industries. In commerce it substitutes LPG, diesel and wood.
